About My Horses
George is the horse responsible for forever changing the way I view life with horses, horse care, horsemanship, and riding. In 1999 I adopted him at 12 years old. At that time he had already been retired for a couple of years due to chronic lameness in his right front hoof. He also had a history of physical abuse and was extremely untrusting of humans. He remained lame until the spring of 2005 when he became sound through proper hoof trimming. About 9 months later I began changing the way I rode and with the goal of improving his biomechanics. I currently ride him 3 to 4 days per week and am happy to report that he is the soundest and happiest he has ever been since I have known him.
Frankie D. came into my life in September of 2005 at age two and a half. The son of Preakness winner Pinebluff, he was in race training in the summer of his two year old year when he went down during a gallop. It was discovered that he had an injury to his cervical spine, causing him to display neurological problems in his hind end. Ben and I went out and met him the day before he was to be euthanized and brought him home that weekend to give him a second chance at life. Frankie has continued to blossom each day and with his playful personality has brought more joy into my life than I could have ever imagined.
Valentine, at just over 3 feet tall, is the herd mascot and knows how to keep her boys in line. She came into my life to be a faithful companion to George. She takes her job very seriously and has also become a wonderful playmate for Frankie and friend to our dogs and barn cat.
