About Me and this Site

My name is Kelleen and I live in beautiful north central Florida with my husband Ben and our animals.  I began riding horses at age 11 and for most of my life rode hunters, and then later dressage, with almost total emphasis on competing.

Around 2002 I became disillusioned with what I saw in many aspects of the horse industry and began seeking new ways to interact with and address the needs of my horses.  In 2003 my interests  shifted from competing to improving my relationship with my horses through better horsemanship and riding. I began began studying horse behavior and psychology to improve my communication with my horses and began utilizing body work and movement education to improve my riding.  As two of my horses are rescues who have had significant physical problems, I concurrently began rehabilitating them through proper hoof trimming, saddle fit, body work and classical dressage.

This site serves as a record of my journey from that point forward.  It is in no way meant to provide professional advice.   The resources that I mention are things that I have found helpful to meet my particular needs and those of my horses. I think it is important to point out that all horse owners should be discriminate about any methods or products they consider using, and recognize that there is never one solution for any given problem.

Proper riding, training, and caring for horses takes a vast amount of time, patience, and knowledge. Sifting through all of the information that is out there can take a lifetime.  Whether you are a simply a horse lover like me, or a professional in the horse industry, I hope that this site offers you some new perspectives and helpful information.
